Trump may tap Lewandowski, Bossie as crisis managers: report

President Trump has personally contacted two of his former campaign aides about working for his administration as crisis managers, according to a new report.

Trump reached out to Corey Lewandowski and David Bossie about potentially working on a White House crisis management operation, Politico reported Monday.

Politico said it had confirmed Trump’s overture to Lewandowski, his former campaign manager, and Bossie, his former deputy campaign manager, with two people familiar with the matter.

{mosads}But Lewandowski told Politico via a text message that he is not in “talks with anyone” about joining the administration, while Bossie declined to comment.

A White House spokesman told Politico there were no immediate plans to hire either man.

Politico reported that it is unclear whether the West Wing would house the kind of rapid response operation in question. One person familiar with the topic told Politico that the work would likely be done outside of the White House.

Lewandowski, Bossie and Jason Miller, the Trump campaign’s former communications director, all reportedly visited the White House last week.

Former FBI Director Robert Mueller last week was appointed as special counsel of the federal investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential race and possible ties between Trump’s campaign and Russia.

The Washington Post last Friday reported that investigators now consider a current White House official a “significant person of interest.”

People familiar with the matter confirmed the official is under scrutiny to the Post but would not further identify them.
