White House incorrectly calls Mnuchin ‘Secretary of Commerce’ in press release
The White House on Wednesday sent out a press release incorrectly referring to Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin as the “Secretary of Commerce.”
Wilbur Ross serves as President Trump’s Commerce secretary.
Earlier Wednesday, Mnuchin, along with Gary Cohn, the director of the National Economic Council, briefed the White House press corps about the administration’s new tax plan.
{mosads}The email, a transcript of the day’s briefing, incorrectly referred to Mnuchin as the Commerce secretary in the subject line, but in the body of the email accurately described him as the secretary of the Treasury.
The Trump administration is proposing striking most deductions from the tax code and simplifying personal income taxes into three brackets, down from seven, among many other changes.
