Jewish group knocks WH for leaving Israel off list of ‘underreported’ terrorist attacks

A prominent Jewish group funded in part by GOP mega-donor Sheldon Adelson says it is confused by the White House’s omission of Israel from its recent list of “underreported” terrorist attacks.

“I am deeply perplexed as to how the administration put out a statement on terror attacks that haven’t been reported without Israel being on the list,” Mort Klein, the national president of the Zionist Organization of America (ZOA), told Politico.

“It’s painful and perplexing — especially on top of the Holocaust gaffe,” Klein added. “It’s not important in the scheme of things, but I would like someone to explain it to me because I don’t get it.”

Politico said ZOA is funded in part by Adelson, a billionaire who is close with President Trump and will reportedly dine with him at the White House late Thursday.

The White House on Monday night issued a list of terror attacks it said “have not received the media attention they deserved.”

The list spanned from September 2014 to December 2016 and contains 78 attacks planned or carried out by followers of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

The collection does not mention Israel, but it does include major attacks like the November 2015 massacre in Paris and a mass shooting in San Bernadino, Calif., that dominated news for weeks.

The catalog also includes many strikes overseas that inspired limited media attention in the U.S., including killings in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and Zvornik, Bosnia.

Officials distributed the list hours after Trump accused the news media of downplaying coverage of violence directed or inspired by ISIS.

“It’s gotten to a point where it’s not even being reported,” he said at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Fla. “And in many cases, the very, very dishonest press doesn’t want to report it.”

The Trump administration also faced criticism from Jewish organizations late last month after it omitted Jews from its statement commemorating International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
