White House revisiting Scaramucci’s adviser role: report

The White House is considering another role for entrepreneur Anthony Scaramucci, Bloomberg reported on Wednesday.

The financier, set to be an adviser to President Donald Trump, has not yet been cleared by the Office of Government Ethics (OGE).

A senior administration official told Bloomberg the White House may offer Scaramucci an ambassadorship or another post within the new administration as a result of the delay.

{mosads}On Tuesday, a source told Politico that the White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus told Scaramucci to withdraw his name from consideration to be the next director of the Office of Public Engagement and Intergovernmental Affairs.

White House press secretary Sean Spicer also told Politico that Scaramucci’s position wasn’t ever officially announced. “I never said that he had a job,” Spicer said.

A source told the news outlet, however, that Priebus later reversed course and informed Scaramucci that he is still being considered for the spot.

Spicer then said in the Tuesday report that “as of the last hour” Scaramucci was being considered for the position within the White House.

“He’s not out; all they’re doing is going through the OGE,” Spicer told Politico.
 
“Until you’re clear, you’re not official. He’s filled out the forms, the Office Government of Ethics has to review it. He completed a major deal. It’s on par with these [Cabinet] nominees,” he added.
