President Trump lavished praise on Hillary Clinton at a luncheon Friday, saying he was “very, very honored” to have his former campaign opponent at his inauguration.
“I was very honored — very, very honored — when I heard that President Bill Clinton and Secretary Hillary Clinton was coming today. And I think it’s appropriate to say. And I’d like you to stand up. I’d like you to stand up,” Trump said, urging the Clintons to acknowledge the lawmakers and dignitaries in attendance.

Hillary Clinton nodded at the president and appeared to mouth “thank you.”
Trump and Clinton fought bitterly during a general election campaign that often got personal, with Trump pledging to jail the former secretary of State and frequently leading supporters in chants of “lock her up.”
After the election, Trump walked back his campaign promise to appoint a special prosecutor to pursue charges against Clinton for her use of a private email server to conduct State Department business.
