Report: DOJ to investigate Ferguson police

The Justice Department is reportedly launching a civil rights investigation into the practices of the Ferguson Police Department after an unarmed African-American teenager was fatally shot by a white police officer last month.

The Washington Post reported late Wednesday that the investigation led by Attorney General Eric Holder could be announced as early as Thursday afternoon.

{mosads}The probe will be separate from a DOJ civil rights investigation announced late last month into the police shooting of 18-year-old Michael Brown.

The Aug. 9 incident in which Officer Darren Wilson shot Brown six times sparked a fury of violent protests that rocked the St. Louis suburb for several weeks.

The new investigation will look at the training and practices, including patterns of stops, arrests and use-of-force of the police department, according to The Associated Press.
