President still tuneful

The crooner in chief was at it again Tuesday evening.

For the second time in recent weeks, President Obama hit the high notes, this time singing a few lines of “Sweet Home Chicago.”

{mosads}After taking in the program, “In Performance at the White House: Red, White and Blues,” Obama hopped on stage to thank the performers — including B.B. King, Mick Jagger and Buddy Guy — for participating at the White House event.

“Thank you everybody, have a wonderful evening,” Obama said, appearing on stage in the mansion’s East Room. “Thank you so much.”

But Guy and King refused to let Obama leave without doing a little singing of his own.

“We were trying to get you to help us sing that because I heard you sing with Al Green,” Guy prodded. “So you started something. You’ve got to keep it up now.”

Obama shook his head no.

But King chimed in: “You can do it!”

And the president finally gave in after Jagger handed him a microphone.

“Come on, baby don’t you wanna go,” Obama sang, as first lady Michelle Obama laughed and clapped behind him. “Come on, baby don’t you wanna go.”

Obama held the microphone out for King who sang, “same old place” before Obama reclaimed the mic to belt the lyrics, “Sweet home Chicago.”

The president’s singing encore came a month after he sang Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together” at a fundraiser at the Apollo Theater.

The president’s rendition of the soul legend’s song went viral on YouTube, after the cable networks had it on an endless loop, and the Obama campaign turned it into a cellphone ringtone.
