An earthquake shook portions of California on Wednesday morning, prompting jokes on social media that it was caused by residents celebrating former President Trump’s term coming to an end.
The quake, which was measured at 3.5 on the richter scale, was felt in portions of Los Angeles and Southern California.
The U.S. Geological Survey reported the quake, which measured nearly 12-miles deep, struck in Willowbrook, Calif., about 13 miles south of L.A., according to the Sacramento Bee.
Twitter users cracked jokes about the quake coinciding with President Biden’s inauguration.

California, which was represented by Vice President Harris in the U.S. Senate before she was sworn in Wednesday, is a Democratic stronghold and voted overwhelmingly for Biden over Trump.
