Watch live: Biden addresses the nation from the Oval Office after Trump assassination attempt
President Biden is set to address the nation from the Oval Office on Sunday night, a day after the shooting at a Trump rally in Butler, Pa., that left one person killed and two others critically injured.
Biden also delivered remarks earlier Sunday, saying that he had a good talk with former President Trump. He also said he ordered a full review of the security for Trump’s Pennsylvania rally and to assess the security in place for the Republican National Convention this week in Milwaukee.
Law enforcement officials told reporters Sunday that they are investigating a lone shooter at former President Trump’s rally on Saturday, adding that the probe is being considered an act of domestic terror.
Trump said Sunday afternoon he would head to Wisconsin for the Republican National Convention as planned. He thanked the nation Sunday morning for its concern in the wake of an attempt on his life the evening before.
Overnight, the FBI named the suspect in the shooting at a rally in Butler, Pa., but offered no other details. Authorities said Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, Pa., was involved.
Remarks are set to begin at 8 p.m. EDT.
