RFK Jr. calls for prayers for Trump after shots ring out at rally

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. called on Americans to put aside their political differences and pray for former President Trump after he was rushed off stage when apparent shots rang out during his Saturday rally in Butler, Pa.

Secret Service agents rushed Trump off the stage just minutes into his rally after he dropped down and reached towards his ear when the noises rang out. He appeared to have blood on his face when he stood up, but he pumped his fist at the crowd before being led away from the podium.

“Now is the time for every American who loves our country to step back from the division, renounce all violence, and unite in prayer for President Trump and his family,” Kennedy said in a post on X.

The Secret Service and Trump released statements saying that Trump was safe following the incident.

“An incident occurred the evening of July 13 at a Trump rally in Pennsylvania. The Secret Service has implemented protective measures and the former President is safe. This is now an active Secret Service investigation and further information will be released when available,” Secret Service spokesman Anthony Gugliemi said on X.

Kennedy, who is running against President Biden and Trump in the presidential election, had his requests for Secret Service protection denied.

“Since the assassination of my father in 1968, candidates for president are provided Secret Service protection. But not me,” Kennedy previously said on X.
