Watch: Trump blasts ‘stupid’ Biden at postdebate rally in Virginia

Former President Trump made a campaign stop in Chesapeake, Va., Friday, one day after the first presidential debate for this cycle took place.

The event marked Trump’s first public appearance following the debate against President Biden, which was hosted by CNN in Atlanta. The meeting was also the first face-to-face interaction between the presumptive nominees since 2020.

Trump was joined by Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R), a source confirmed to The Hill before the event, marking the first time the two have appeared together during the 2024 cycle.

The former president used Biden’s poor debate performance — which has sparked concerns among Democrats and Republicans alike — to slam his rival with familiar attacks on immigration and the economy and insulting him as a “stupid, stupid, stupid man.” During the forum, Biden lacked energy, stumbled over his words and at times, seemed to zone out.

“Despite the fact that crooked Joe Biden spent the entire week at Camp David resting, working, studying — he studied very hard. He studied so hard that he didn’t know what the hell he was doing,” Trump told supporters Friday in Virginia.

“He got the debate rules that he wanted. He got the date that he wanted. He got the network that he wanted with the [moderators] that he wanted,” Trump continued. “No amount of rest or rigging could help him defend his atrocious record. It’s not defensible.”
