Meghan McCain, a former co-host of ABC’s “The View,” blasted the current panel of the show after host Ana Navarro suggested McCain had benefited from her father’s public service.
During a discussion on the popular daytime political talk show this week, Navarro defended Hunter Biden, the president’s son, saying, “Look, did Hunter Biden influence-peddle on his last name? Yes, he did. So did half of Washington. People sitting at this table did it.”
Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin pressed her, following up by asking, “Who at this table peddled on their last name?”
“I’m not talking about currently,” Navarro replied.
McCain, the daughter of the late Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), apparently took the comment as a jab at her, calling it “absurd, defamatory and slanderous.”
“I don’t understand why my former colleagues … bring me up and slander me on an almost weekly basis. It has been years – move on, I have,” McCain wrote Thursday on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. “have never been accused of a crime in my life and am a patriotic American – I would never and have never ‘influenced peddled’ in my life, let alone with foreign adversaries. Not all politicians children are the same – and I am no Hunter Biden.”
House Republicans this week have mounted an impeachment effort against President Biden, alleging he benefited from his son’s foreign business dealings.
McCain said she was planning on “consulting my lawyers regarding what was libeled against me on The View this morning.”
