Political reporter Eli Yokley on Wednesday said that younger people are more likely to acknowledge cultural conversations such as topics like the Me Too movement than their older counterparts.
“We’re finding that younger people are more willing to acknowledge some of these cultural conversations we’re having today than older people are,” Yokley, a reporter at Morning Consult, told Hill.TV’s Jamal Simmons on “What America’s Thinking.”
“They’re apologizing more, they’re responding more to each other, and it’s having more of an impact with them,” he continued.
Yokley was referring to former Vice President Joe Biden’s response to allegations that he inappropriately touched women in the past.
Biden, who has yet to officially announce a 2020 presidential campaign, responded to the accusations in a video Wednesday by vowing to be more mindful of women’s personal space.
However, he did not apologize for the alleged behavior, and a couple of days later he joked about having “permission” to hug people.
“Joe Biden does not yet seem to be hearing the criticism from the younger folks, sort of the woke crowd on this issue,” Yokley said.
