Democratic strategist says Trump ‘dropped the ball’ with comments about Pelosi overseas

Democratic strategist Don Calloway on Friday slammed President Trump’s attack on Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) in France, saying it was another moment in which the president “dropped the ball.”

“Wasn’t there a moment in this country’s history, where when we are offshores, we are all Americans first, regardless of our politics,” Calloway, the CEO of Pine Street Strategies, told Hill.TV’s Krystal Ball and Buck Sexton on “Rising.”

“We are representing this country over there, not our partisan sides of the aisle, and this was just another moment when the president dropped that ball,” he continued.

Critics have slammed Trump attacking Pelosi during a Fox News interview with Laura Ingraham at the American cemetery in Normandy, France, where he was marking the 75th anniversary of D-Day.

During the interview, Trump referred to Pelosi as a “disaster,” referring to her handling of a possible impeachment inquiry.

Pelosi, who was also in Normandy to commemorate D-Day, declined to respond to Trump’s comments.

“I don’t talk about the president while I’m out of the country. That’s my principle,” she told reporters.
