Nevada brothel owner running for state office: There are ‘herds of hookers’ in DC

Nevada brothel owner Dennis Hof, who is running as a Republican for the state legislature, on Friday argued that prostitution should be legalized, saying there is a slew of prostitutes working in Washington, D.C.

“It’s a legal business. You’ve got the problem. You’ve got herds of hookers everywhere in Washington, D.C.,” Hof said on Hill.TV’s “Rising.”

“You got the problem, we got the answer. We know how to control this, and it’s a vice that’s not going away. Prohibition did not work with the numbers racket — liquor, marijuana. It is not going to work with sex,” he said.

Hof decided to run for public office for the second time after state officials proposed banning brothels from operating in two of the seven Nevada counties in which they are still legal.

Hof defeated Assemblyman James Oscarson (R) in the GOP primary in a rural district outside of Las Vegas earlier this month.

He has a high chance of winning the seat in the November general election where he will face off against Democrat Lesia Romanov. The district leans Republican and was won by President Trump won in 2016.
