Lawmakers at all levels can play a key role in the development of smart technology for manufacturing, the head of the Clean Energy Smart Manufacturing Innovation Institute said on Hill.TV’s “Boundless,” which aired Wednesday.
“Federal and state lawmakers can play a key role in incubating technologies that are vital in smart manufacturing,” said CEO John Dyck. “They can play a role in educating the workforce, educating manufacturers and taking some of the objections and the fears away. They can play a role in generating trust or creating trust around the idea of moving data beyond the four walls of the plant to a cloud environment.”
“They can play a role in enduring low friction for both the data flow itself, but also the bureaucracy and the way data is monetized across the supply chain,” he said.
