According to local news outlet WWLTV, the 71-year-old Slidell man was in his shed, which was flooded by Hurricane Ida, when his wife heard a disturbance and found him under attack by an alligator.

She was able to help him get away from the alligator, but she was unable to call for help because the storm had knocked out their power. She took their boat to look for help, but when she returned her husband was gone. Authorities searched for the man but have been unable to locate him.
Neighbors told the station that alligators are common in the area. Authorities are still investigating but don’t suspect foul play.
