Former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger criticized world leaders who delay action on climate change believing it will hurt their economies, saying “they are liars; they are stupid.”
Schwarznegger addressed a range of environmental issues, including air pollution and meat consumption, in an interview with the BBC ahead of the UN. Climate Summit. The former action superstar, who promoted clean air and energy policies as governor, pointed to California’s climate friendly initiatives that he suggests show a positive relationship with economic stimulus.
“They are liars, they are stupid. Or they don’t know how to do it, because we figured how to do it and it’s all about having the balls to do it,” he said on the BBC Radio 4’s 39 Ways to Save the Planet series.
The bodybuilding legend further maintained that a solution to cut down on air pollution is to buy local goods, arguing that this could lead to a reduction in emissions caused by shipping.
“Buy local products. Every time you buy something from overseas, that is evil for the environment – this is like the worst thing you can do,” he said.

“Since eating more vegetables and plant-based foods my heart doctor said my arteries have stopped narrowing,” he said.
“So how have I given up something? I gained my health, it gave me an extra two years.”
Schwarznegger told the outlet he will attend the COP 26 Summit in Glasgow beginning next week.
