The kitten was struggling to stay afloat in the floodwaters at Cottage Park Arden Arcade on Sunday when Skip Campbell’s wife noticed the distressed feline.

Campbell quickly trudged into the water to rescue it.

“It started going under and just before I got it it was down a little bit low and I was able to bring it up and I just held it out here so I wouldn’t get bit or scratched,” Campbell told CBS Sacramento.

The kitten is stable and a number of the Campbells’ neighbors have expressed an interest in adopting it.
