The footage shows a spherical object flying and darting above the water for several minutes before descending into the ocean.
“It splashed,” military personnel said in the video.
No wreckage or evidence of the object was ever recovered from the water.
NBC News reports the Department of Defense confirmed the video was recorded by the Navy and is set to be reviewed by the Pentagon’s Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Task Force. The panel was established last year to improve the understanding into the nature and origins of UAPs, or Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon.
Last month, the Pentagon confirmed a separate leaked video showing a triangle-shaped UAP flying through the sky was real and taken by Navy personnel.
Corbell shared the recent footage on social media days before a 60 Minutes report aired Sunday that included interviews with several former Navy pilots who described encounters with UAPs.
Former Navy pilot David Fravor detailed a 2004 incident southwest of San Diego in which he and three other pilots were sent to investigate “multiple anomalous aerial vehicles” that had been picked up on radar descending 80,000 feet in less than a second.
The pilots spotted an area of whitewater surrounded by calm sea.
“And we saw this little white Tic Tac-looking object. And it’s just kind of moving above the whitewater area,” Fravor told 60 Minutes.
“I want to see how close I can get…And it’s climbing still. And when it gets right in front of me, it just disappears,” he said.
Fravor said the UAP was about the size of his fighter jet and had no markings, no wings and no exhaust plumes. Seconds after disappearing, the UAP was picked up by a nearby U.S. ship 60 miles away before disappearing again.
The U.S. government is expected to release a report on UFO sightings to Congress in June.
