ESPN host reveals he contracted COVID-19

ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith revealed he contracted COVID-19 live on-air Tuesday.

Smith was beginning his virtual appearance on “First Take” when he made the announcement.

“I’m home right now. I’ve tested positive for COVID-19 — I have the coronavirus,” Smith said.

Ahead of his segment, Smith had tweeted, “What up peoples! Got something to tell y’all. See you on @FirstTake at 10am EST on ESPN!”

Smith went on to explain on “First Take” that he had tested positive over the weekend after coming down with a fever. 

Smith received both doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech coronavirus vaccine but had not yet received his booster shot.
