The daughter of rock legend Bruce Springsteen is heading to the Tokyo Olympics as a member of the jumping team, U.S. Equestrian announced Monday.
Jessica Springsteen, the 29-year-old daughter of Bruce Springsteen and singer-songwriter Patti Scialfa will make her first appearance alongside teammates Kent Farrington, Laura Kraut and McLain Ward, Team USA said in a press release.
“Been dreaming of this since I can remember! Endless gratitude for my team, friends and family for helping me make this a reality,” Jessica Springsteen said in an Instagram post. “We are Tokyo bound!! Honored to be a part of this team.”
“There’s no horse in the world I’d rather be on this journey with, thank you Don! You’re my horse of a lifetime,” Jessica Springsteen added, referring to her 12-year-old stallion Don Juan van de Donkhoeve.

Chef d’equipe Robert Ridland and Lizzy Chesson will head the team.
“I feel very confident that the seasoned group of riders that we will be sending to Tokyo is in top current form and peaking at just the right time,” Ridland said in a statement, per The Associated Press.
Jessica Springsteen, who sits at no. 27 in world rankings, began riding at 4 years old on her family’s farm, NBC reported. She served as an alternate for the 2012 team before failing to make the roster in 2016.
The delayed 2020 Tokyo Games are scheduled to begin opening ceremonies July 23. The U.S. Equestrian team has medaled in six out of the last nine Olympic games.
