Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) argued in an interview Sunday the U.S. should take UFO’s “seriously,” saying “anything that enters an airspace that is not supposed to is a threat.”
The government is expected to release a report on UFO sightings in June, and Rubio wants a declassified copy submitted to congress, The New York Post reported. Yet Rubio told CBS’s 60 Minutes host Bill Whitaker Congressional members’ views of UFO’s vary. The Florida Republican said some of his colleagues are “very interested in this topic and some kinda, you know, giggle when you bring it up.”
“But I don’t think we can allow the stigma to keep us from having an answer to a very fundamental question,” Rubio added.
The former presidential candidate added he believes that a mechanism should be set up by which UFO data is “cataloged and constantly analyzed, until we get some answers.”
“Maybe it has a very simple answer. Maybe it doesn’t,” Rubio said.

Former Navy Lt. Ryan Graves said on the CBS show he witnessed “unidentified aerial phenomena” (UAP’s) in restricted airspace “every day for a couple years.” Graves, who spotted the unidentified aircraft with members of his squadron said this could represent a security threat.
“I am worried, frankly. … if these were tactical jets from another country that were hanging out up there, it would be a massive issue,” Graves said.
“But because it looks slightly different, we’re not willing to actually look at the problem in the face,” Graves added. “We’re happy to just ignore the fact that these are out there, watching us every day.”
Luis Elizondo, a Former Pentagon official who ran the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program told Whitaker some of the sightings can be easily explained while others are “problematic.”
“Is it some sort of new type of cruise missile technology that China has developed,” Elizondo said. “Is it some sort of high-altitude balloon that’s conducting reconnaissance?”
“Ultimately when you have exhausted all those what ifs and you’re still left with the fact that this is in our airspace and it’s real, that’s when it becomes compelling, and that’s when it becomes problematic,” he said.
