Bloom, who said he eats a “90% plant-based” diet, asked the 19-year-old singer why she decided to go vegan.

“I am vegan. I’ve been vegan for, damn, seven years,” Eilish said.

The singer explained that after doing research into the meat industry and its processes and ethics, she no longer felt comfortable consuming animal products.

“Once you know that kind of thing and you see it, it’s really hard to go back,” she said, adding, “And now, even though I have lots of friends that eat dairy and meat and I don’t ever want to tell anybody what to do, I just can’t go on in my life knowing what’s going on in the animal world and like, not doing anything about it.”

Eilish has taken to social media in the past to share posts bringing awareness to the meat industry and animal cruelty.

According to a 2018 Gallup poll, approximately 3 percent of the U.S. population is vegan.
