Get your free Constitutions from C-SPAN

Capitol Hill history junkies, rejoice — a pocket-sized copy of the Constitution could be coming your way.

C-SPAN staffers (clad in red T-shirts) will be braving the elements Tuesday and Wednesday during the morning and lunch-hour rush and handing out itsy bitsy versions of the nation’s guiding principles — which many lawmakers carry with them — at the Capitol South and Union Station Metrorail stops.

{mosads}While the C-SPAN Bus travels across the country giving out the petite historical documents, this time D.C. is getting in on the action.

The reason for the freebies?

We hear the network sees its daily public affairs coverage as “bringing the Constitution to life.”

The timing of the patriotic giveaway is also tied to this week’s National Cable and Telecommunications Association’s convention in Washington.

Pocket Constitutions have sometimes been considered the “it” accessory among members of Congress. Rep. Billy Long (R-Mo.) once said of his miniature copy, “Like a horse, it’s rode hard and put away wet.”
