Senator signs T-shirt for fans at airport
Sen. Al Franken has airport groupies.
ITK spotted the Minnesota Democrat picking up a copy of The New York Times before catching a flight out of Charlotte, N.C., following the Democratic National Convention on Friday morning.
{mosads}When Franken, a former comic on “Saturday Night Live,” stepped up to the register at the airport newsstand, a cashier smiled and asked her co-worker who was standing nearby, “Do you recognize this congressman?”
Franken introduced himself to the star-struck pair.
One of the two women cracked, “Can I get your autograph? Or do you charge?”
While the lawmaker-loving ladies initially asked the junior senator to sign the receipt from his newspaper purchase, Franken offered his John Hancock (free of charge) on something a little less flimsy — putting his mark on a convention souvenir T-shirt that one of the employees grabbed from a rack in the front of the store.
