Actor Tim Daly doesn’t have VIP ticket in Fla.

Actor Tim Daly is a longtime supporter of President Obama, but his appearance in Tampa doesn’t make him a convention crasher.

Daly, who serves as president of the arts advocacy organization the Creative Coalition, was at the Republican National Convention to promote funding for the arts.

{mosads}“We don’t think of funding for the arts as a partisan issue,” he said Tuesday night at the CNN Grill. “We come and try to make friends and to make our point about advocacy for the arts on both sides of the aisle.”

And even though he said he’s getting a “surprisingly good” reception from the crowd of Mitt Romney supporters, he’s not receiving the star treatment.

Daly has a credential to get him inside the Tampa Bay Times Forum, where Romney will accept the GOP nomination, but it’s not a VIP ticket.

“We have some of these general passes, so we’re going to have to fight for seats like everybody else,” he said, laughing.

But he’s likely to have a better time at his next stop — the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C.
