Shake up summer with cocktails at Colvin Run
As the humidity becomes unbearable and temperatures rise, step inside Colvin Run Tavern (8045 Leesburg Pike, Vienna, Va.) for cool, refreshing cocktails.

A list of new offerings to take your mind off the heat includes Tysons lemonade, made with Ketel One Citroen vodka, Cointreau and fresh lemon juice and served on the rocks ($12). The watermelon martini is fruity and features Ketel One Citroen vodka, rock-candy syrup and fresh watermelon (also $12).

New to the cocktail menu are the Bellini, which consists of sparkling cava and peach pur�e ($10) and the MangoRita, made of mango pur�e, 1800 Reposado tequila, Cointreau, lemon and lime juices and served on the rocks with a salted rim ($11).

D.C. pastry chef to appear on the ‘Today’ show
David Guas, executive pastry chef at D.C. Coast, Ceiba and Acadiana restaurants, is set to appear in a live cooking segment on NBC’s “Today” show tomorrow at 9:45 a.m.

Guas will showcase summer berries. He will present recipes for a number of blended berry drinks, including the Very Berry shake, a blackberry-mint smoothie, Raspberry-Orange Julius and Strawberry-Yuzu Basil Boozer.

Bon Appetit singled Guas out as one of eight star pastry chefs in the country.
