What book is on your nightstand right now?

I’m reading For One More Day. It’s by Mitch Albom. And I also started reading President Obama’s The Audacity of Hope. And of course I’m reading various reports on my committee work.

What newspapers and magazines do you read regularly?

{mosads}I usually like USA Today and Time.

What’s your guilty-pleasure read?

I tend not to read a whole lot of fiction. But I do like Dan Brown’s writing style, so I guess I’d say historical fiction is my guilty-pleasure read. I’m going to pick up his newest book, The Lost Symbol.

Which books have  influenced your political philosophy?

John Adams by David McCullough. It just gives you a deep appreciation for U.S. history and the struggle of the Founding Fathers to create this country — and how tenuous that time was.

Which books about D.C.  should every member read?

From an Intelligence Committee perspective, Legacy of Ashes: The History of the CIA [by Tim Weiner]. It basically talked about the CIA and its failures, and the mistakes we made in the past.

What are your favorite novels of all time?

I tend to read things like factual books. I tend to read things like Dan Brown books.

Which author do you most often reference?

I’m fond of Woodrow Wilson quotes.
