Engagements
{mosads}Waters’s press secretary to marry: Sean Bartlett, deputy press secretary for Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.), and Shana Martin, dedicated adviser for the Advisory Board, were engaged on Nov. 15, 2009.
The two were engaged in their apartment, but Bartlett said this was not the original plan. To make a long story short, as the couple said, Bartlett was planning a surprise Thanksgiving engagement. Due to little white lies gone wrong, friends kept in the dark and dead cell phones, as well as multiple Chinatown buses, Martin ended up getting the engagement out of Bartlett before he could surprise her.
Both Bartlett and Martin are from Syracuse and met during their freshman year of high school. They started dating in 2000, during their junior year, and have been together ever since.
The couple plan to marry in the D.C. area in June 2011.
