President Trump narrowly trails former Democratic Vice President Joe Biden and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) in hypothetical 2020 presidential election matchups, according to a Fox News poll released Sunday.

The poll shows that Biden leads Trump by 7 percentage points among registered voters when the two go head-to-head. The former vice president has not yet officially announced his candidacy but is widely expected to do so.

Sanders is the only other candidate for the Democratic nomination to top Trump in a hypothetical head-to-head matchup. Forty-four percent of those surveyed backed the Vermont senator, compared to 41 percent who support the president.

{mosads}Trump edges out Sens. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) and Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) by 2 percentage points each in their respective head-to-head matchups, according to the poll.

A steadily growing field of Democrats has taken shape to seek to the party’s nomination to take on Trump in 2020. Former Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-Texas), Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) and Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) are among the others who have entered the race.

Biden and Sanders have consistently ranked at or near the top of polling among Democratic voters about their preferred nominee. They were the top two vote-getters among 403 Democratic primary voters in the Fox News poll.

Trump has criticized both men, recently deriding Biden as “low I.Q.” and previously suggesting Sanders had “missed his time” by failing to secure the nomination in 2016.

The support in the new poll for Trump among those surveyed closely mirrors his overall approval rating, which has hovered in the low 40 percent range for much of his presidency.

The poll surveyed 1,002 registered voters from March 17 to March 20. It has a margin of error of 3 percentage points, meaning each matchup except the one with Biden falls within the margin of error.
