Ben Miller, chief of staff to Rep. Jared Huffman (D-Calif.), is leaving Capitol Hill to join Kadesh & Associates as a principal, effective in January. Miller has worked for Huffman for more than eight years and previously was legislative director and deputy chief of staff to ex-Rep. George Miller (D-Calif.).
Amy Smith was named a deputy for government affairs and vice president for congressional affairs at Leidos. She previously was senior director for international operations and policy at Boeing Co., where she worked for nearly eight years. Before that she was policy director for Republicans on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and director of floor operations for then-House Majority Whip Roy Blunt (R-Mo.).
Real estate advocacy group Nareit hired Nathaalie Carey as senior vice president of industry affairs and social responsibility. She previously was executive deputy commissioner at the New York State Department of Labor.
Amazon.com Inc. named Lizzy Simmons manager of public policy. She previously was vice president of government relations and workforce development at the National Retail Federation, where she worked for more than five years. Before that, she was a legislative assistant to Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.).
Home Depot Inc. promoted Brett Layson to director of federal government relations. He previously was senior legislative assistant to ex-Sen. Johnny Isakson (R-Ga.), where he worked for more than five years.
