Nina Turner, former state senator from Ohio and co-chair of Sen. Bernie Sanders’s (I-Vt.) 2020 presidential campaign, launched Amare Public Affairs. The new firm aims to bring a progressive voice to the public affairs arena.

Preston Rutledge, former assistant secretary of the Employee Benefits Security Administration at the Labor Department, launched his own consulting firm, Rutledge Policy Group. Before working for the Trump administration, Rutledge was the senior tax and benefits counsel for Republicans on the Senate Finance Committee.

Lauren Culbertson was promoted to the head of U.S. public policy at Twitter Inc., leading its federal, state and local advocacy. She previously was head of U.S. federal policy and has worked at Twitter for more than three years. Before that, she was deputy communications director to ex-Sen. Johnny Isakson (R-Ga.).

Amy Murphy joined Twitter as public policy manager, focusing on privacy and intermediary liability protections for users. She previously was director of federal government affairs at the Internet Association and was senior legislative assistant to ex-Rep. Joe Barton (R-Texas).

Suzy Jacobs will be chief operating officer at Finesca, a financial security trade association that was launched through the merger of Association for Advanced Life Underwriting/General Agents and Managers Association (AALU/GAMA). She was previously senior vice president of business development and marketing at the AALU/GAMA.

Government relations firm Michael Best Strategies LLC named Tami Jackson Buckner a partner in its D.C. office. She previously led the federal legislative and political function in Washington for Waste Management Inc. and before that was senior director of corporate and federal government affairs at Kraft Foods and director of federal and state government relations at the Coca-Cola Co.

Arnold & Porter named Kirk Jenkins a senior counsel in the firm’s appellate and Supreme Court practice, based in its San Francisco office. He previously was a partner at law firms Horvitz & Levy LLP and Sedgwick LLP.
