TRADE. Cosmetics company L’Oreal USA hired Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld to work on issues related to Section 301 tariffs on France. Justin McCarthy, former special assistant to the president for legislative affairs during the George W. Bush administration, will work on the account.
Home improvement retailer Lowe’s Companies hired Crowell & Moring LLP to work on Section 301 tariff exclusions. Scott Douglas, former finance director and political staff member to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), and Jerrica Mathis, former Congressional Black Caucus Foundation health policy fellow, will work on the account.
HEALTH. The National Council for Behavioral Health, which advocates for access to mental health and substance abuse services, hired LJ Strategies to work on funding for mental health first aid in the 2021 appropriations bills. Former Rep. Lynn Jenkins (R-Kan.) will work on the account along with her former chief of staff, Pat Leopold.
TECHNOLOGY. Amazon Web Services, the cloud computing company, hired American Defense International Inc. to work on issues related to cloud computing for the Department of Defense and intelligence community. Josh Martin, former chief of staff to Rep. Mac Thornberry (R-Texas), among others, will work on the account.
LABOR. The United States Capitol Police Labor Committee, a union, hired McAllister & Quinn to work on federal employee labor issues and appropriations issues. Andrew Quinn, former legislative aide to Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-Md.), will work on the account.
