• Former Rep. Nick Rahall (D-W.Va.) has joined Cassidy & Associates as a senior adviser. He left Capitol Hill in 2015 and became eligible to lobby his former colleagues earlier this year. Rahall formerly served as chairman of the House Natural Resources Committee and as the ranking member on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.
• Sidley Austin hired away Jonathan Nuechterlein from the Federal Trade Commission, where he served as general counsel. Nuechterlein will serve as co-chairman of the firm’s communications regulatory practice and join its antitrust/competition practice.
{mosads}• Squire Patton Boggs made a number of announcements on Monday, including the hiring of Sam -Adcock as a senior adviser in its public policy practice in Washington. He most recently served as vice president and general manager of the Mississippi Operations for Airbus Helicopters Inc. He has also worked in then-DaimlerChrysler’s Washington office. In the public sector, he ran an unsuccessful campaign for an open Mississippi congressional seat in 2014 and worked as an aide to former Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott (R-Miss.), who now co-chairs Squire Patton’s public policy practice. The firm also promoted 39 individuals worldwide, and three in the Washington office: The new partners include Erin McGrain, who serves in the public policy practice, and Zachery Adams, of the investigations/white collar division. Pamela Welsh, in the public policy practice, is being promoted to principal.
• No Labels added two former lawmakers to its advisory board. Evan Bayh (D), a former Indiana governor and senator, has become a national co-chairman of the organization, joining Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) and Gov. Jon Huntsman (R-Utah). Former Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Texas) joined the group’s advisory board. Bayh also works as a partner at McGuireWoods, and Hutchison is a senior counsel at law and lobby firm Bracewell.
