Former GOP Rep. Walters joins energy company
Former Rep. Mimi Walters (R-Calif.) has been named chief commercial officer of a distributed energy resource company.
Leading Edge Power Solutions, a California-based company, announced on Wednesday that Walters will lead business development and regulatory affairs.
{mosads}Walters, who lost her bid for reelection in 2018 after two terms, served on the Energy and Commerce Committee while in Congress.
“Mimi has been working with us for the last several months as an advisor and we are pleased that she has decided to join our team full time. Given her many years of experience in both the public and private sector, Mimi provides a unique perspective to the various industries that Leading Edge Power Solutions serves,” Richard Paulsen, the company’s co-founder, said in the announcement.
Leading Edge Power Solutions focuses on natural gas and provides solutions for commercial and industrial clients.
Walters also served on the House Judiciary and Transportation and Infrastructure committees. She was previously in the California State Senate and before that, she worked as an investment banker in California.
She was named to the board of California-based financial services firm B. Riley Financial Inc. in July.
As Walters returns to California, a number of other notable former GOP members of the House have decided to stay in Washington including ex-Rep. Jeff Denham (Calif.), who is at K&L Gates; ex-Rep. John Culberson (Texas), who is at Clark Hill; ex-Reps. Lamar Smith (Texas) and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (Fla.), who are in Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP’s Washington office; and former Rep. Bill Shuster (Pa.), who is at Squire Patton Boggs.
