NYC Mayor Bloomberg acquires 2,000 more Twitter followers

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg just might be the most popular up-and-comer in the Twitterverse. His staff tweeted on Wednesday that 2,000 more tweeters followed the mayor’s account:

Welcome to our 2000 new followers! Mike enjoyed tweeting yesterday. Stay tuned for news and info about Mikes campaign to keep NYC working.

Although Bloomberg staffers make most of the mayor’s tweets, he tweeted himself on Tuesday.

Bloomberg postponed his foray into personal tweeting after a tragic aerial collision between a helicopter and a small plane occurred over the Hudson River on Saturday. He had planned to tweet on Sunday.

It’s unclear when the mayor got all of his new friends.
