McCaskill tweets disappointment at town hall cancellation
Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) took to Twitter to register her disappointment at a St. Louis school district’s decision to cancel a healthcare “listening session” she scheduled at a high school there.
The centrist Democrat has been a strong backer of the healthcare town halls, which other Democrats have viewed with a skeptical eye because of hostile protests that have occured at some of the meetings.
She tweeted late on Friday:
I did NOT cancel Tues meeting, the venue Unic (sic) City School district made the decision to cancel. I’m disappointed.
The University City School District canceled the town meeting scheduled for Tuesday on Friday and McCaskill insisted she had no part in the district’s decision.
She touted another town hall she would hold later on Tuesday.
