UPDATED Christie uses Twitter to slam Corzine’s ethics record

New Jersey gubernatorial candidate Chris Christie (R) took to Twitter on Friday to criticize incumbent Gov. Jon Corzine’s (D) ethics record after the state was rocked by its latest corruption scandal.

Several weeks ago, two mayors and a state assemblyman were found to be involved in a money laundering organization that trafficked human organs, amongst other items. Corzine prompted a member of his cabinet to resign after he was implicated in the ring.

Christie tweeted today:

Corzine had no time for ethics but had time to sign a bill declaring November as “New Jersey Wine Month.” #takebackNJ

Christie has touted his anti-corruption credentials as a former U.S. Attorney, releasing a web ad promising to fight corruption as governor in the wake of the scandal.

An interesting side note: Christie did not use an “@” reply to direct the tweet at Corzine’s Twitter account.

UPDATED [2:55pm]: Corzine shot back at Christie, tweeting:

While Christie was giving out no bid contracts, Gov. Corzine was signing the toughest ethics legislation in NJ history http://bit.ly/2Hq0Rr
