Demoratic Governors Association touts Obama appearance with Deeds
The Democratic Governors Association (DGA) took to Twitter to play up President Barack Obama’s appearance with Virginia gubernatorial candidate Creigh Deeds on the campaign trail today.
The DGA tweeted on Thursday:
VA: President @BarackObama and Governor Kaine campaign today in McLean with @CreighDeeds! #vagov
Recently, some have started to question whether or not Obama will help or hurt Deeds in the 2009 general election against former Virginia Attorney General Bob McDonnell (R). Obama’s declining approval rating in the commonwealth has coincided with Deeds sinking poll numbers.
Deeds recently took a campaign tour through conservative southern Virginia. Obama, on the other hand, will appear with the state senator in heavily Democratic northern Virginia.
In 2008, Obama was the first Democratic presidential nominee to win Virginia’s electoral votes since 1964.
The president recently appeared alongside Gov. Jon Corzine (D-N.J.) who faces a tough reelection battle this year against Chris Christie (R-N.J.) Corzine took to Twitter to promote his rally with Obama.
Deeds’ campaign is also promoting Obama’s visit on its website:
