Hodes pressures Gregg to back Sotomayor
Rep. Paul Hodes (D-N.H.) turned the heat up on his state’s Republican senator, Judd Gregg, to support the Supreme Court confirmation of Judge Sonia Sotomayor.
Gregg is leaning toward backing President Obama’s nominee, calling her a “very qualified individual. But he has not officially made a decision.
The New Hampshire Democrat also praised Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.) for backing Sotomayor, tweeting:
I was glad to see Senator Shaheen supporting Judge Sotomayor today. I hope Senator Gregg joins her in support of Judge Sotomayor.
Thus far, seven Republican senators have backed Sotomayor. Gregg is retiring after his term ends in 2010.
