Ohio gov. boosts Obama agenda on Twitter
Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland (D-Ohio) lauded President Barack Obama’s visit to his home state today on Twitter, saying that ” we need to work hard” to support healthcare reform legislation.
Strickland also applauded the president’s economic stimulus package for its potential to turn Ohio’s unemployment numbers around. Unemployment increased in almost all areas of the state in June to just about 11%, about 1.5% above the national level.
Strickland’s reelection chances in 2010 ride high on his ability to turn around Ohio’s economy. The governor appears to be throwing his full support behind Obama’s agenda for economic recovery.
The first-term governor tweeted Thursday:
proudly welcoming President Barack Obama to Cleveland. Thanks to his jobs stimulus plan, many Ohioans will be put to work.
We now need to work hard to support his efforts to reform America’s Health Care System
President Obama toured the Cleveland Clinic earlier today and is now holding a healthcare town hall in Shaker Heights, Ohio.
Strickland, who originally supported Hillary Clinton in 2008, appeared at the town hall with Obama.
