From Russia, with little love
President Barack Obama’s visit to Russia this week is designed to find common ground with America’s former Cold War foe. But a vast majority of people there seem pessimistic about such prospects.
West Wing Report, a non-partisan Twitter account that covers the White House, tweeted:
Russia’s one foreign country where Obama wins no popularity contest. Survey: just 23% of Russians say he’ll do “the right thing”
Obama and President Dmirty Medvedev are scheduled to sign an accord committing the two nations to reducing nuclear arms proliferation. Russians, though, are wary of the effort. Obama, who still enjoys high ratings across Europe, doesn’t seem to garner the same favor in the Motherland.
