McMorris Rodgers secures subcommittee post, concludes reshuffle
Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.) became the ranking member of the House Workforce Protections Subcommittee today.
She tweeted:
Just appointed Ranking Member to the @EdLaborRepub Workforce Protection subcommittee. I’m excited to help workers and employers prosper.
McMorris Rodgers had entered the race to become ranking member of the House Education and Labor Committee, but lost out to Rep. John Kline (R-Minn.)
Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.) formerly held McMorris Rodgers’ new post, but he was appointed ranking member of the Health, Employment, Labor and Pensions Subcommittee. Kline previously held that position.
The reshuffle occurred because President Barack Obama appointed former House Armed Services ranking member John McHugh’s (R-N.Y.) to become secretary of the Army. Rep. Buck McKeon (R-Fla.), who formerly served as ranking member on the Education and Labor Committee, was elected to assume the Arms Services slot.
