Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) tweeted about a town hall event he is holding on Wednesday where he might encounter some staunch opposition to his stand against the current healthcare reform legislation:
Had a great time visiting Charleston, on my way to Myrtle Beach for town hall on health care today.
CNN political producer Peter Hamby is reporting that a group of local Democrats are organizing a protest against the conservative senator, tweeting:
in myrtle beach for jim demint’s town hall at 11:30AM … local democrats have organized a protest.
Yesterday at a town hall with a mostly friendly crowd of 300, DeMint said “you don’t look like the mob I keep hearing about,” referring to other congressman’s rowdy healthcare town halls.
“Folks, I don’t want the most personal and private part of my life being controlled by the same people that ran the [Hurricane] Katrina cleanup,” DeMint’s said at yesterday’s rally in Charleston, S.C. which drew a round of applause
We wonder how that line will be received at today’s meeting.
