Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.) took to Twitter to announce she is en route to Israel to meet with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and other high-ranking officials.
Her husband Dexter, who is a former U.S. Attorney, will join her on the trip.
The south Florida Republican tweeted Sunday:
On way to Israel. Leaving Miami to Newark then off to Israel with Dexter. Many meetings.
When we get to Israel, we’ll meet with various leaders this week: netanyahu, peres, knesset members, military analysts, Sderot families, etc
Sderot is a small city located less than a mile from the Gaza strip that has been hit hard by Hamas and Islamic jihad rockets for several years.
“The United States and Israel must continue to work together to forge even closer ties as we face the mutual threats posed by violent extremists and the regimes which support them,” Ros-Lehtinen said in a statement Friday.
