Poll: Majority of U.S. thinks Twitter positive in Iran

A majority of Americans think Twitter has played a positive role in the aftermath of the Iranian presidential election, according to a new poll.

51 percent of Americans said that the microblogging website has been a positive force for the people of Iran in a Rasmussen poll released Friday.

Iranians have used Twitter, a social media site, to interact and report on the crackdowns by the ruling regime in Iran since many official media sources were expelled from the country.

11 percent of Americans said they thought Twitter was a negative force for Iran, while 38 percent were unsure.

The poll, conducted June 17-18, has a three percent margin of error.
