Service Employees International Union, which has been one of the most active supporters of Democratic healthcare reform, has started a Twitter campaign to discredit a group Republicans have cited to criticize the health bill.
The campaign, entitled “Lewin Group FAIL,” is intended to dispute claims that the healthcare research firm Lewin Group is independent and non-partisan.The campaign’s website says “What [Republicans are] forgetting to say is that their research firm is ‘owned by a private insurance company,’ and ‘completely biased when it comes to health care.'”
The website prompts people to fill out a form, which provides them with a form tweet targeted at congressional Republicans who have cited the Lewin Group. It reads:
Lewin Group FAIL. http://seiu.org/lewin @royblunt @chuckgrassley @jimdemint @newtgingrich @reppaulryan @johnthune hc09
It’s interesting that the SEIU includes former House Speaker Newt Gingrich who has no longer serves in Congress. Gingrich, however, still plays an active role in politics.
Bloggers and Twitterers use the term “FAIL” to describe an item or action that is foolish or riddled with mistakes. In fact, an entire blog is dedicated to the word.
