Christie staff live-tweets campaign event

New Jersey gubernatorial candidate Chris Christie’s (R) campaign staff live-tweeted a town hall event on education, a move demonstrating the race’s high level of competitiveness on Twitter.

Both Christie and incumbent Gov. Jon Corzine (D) have frequently taken to Twitter to promote their campaign events and news in detail.

In the live-tweet, Christie’s staff touted their boss’ appearance with former governor and prominent centrist Republican Thomas Kean (N.J.):

Governor Kean is happy to finally see someone running for NJ.J. governor who is making higher education a priority. Me too!

Christie also solicited questions for the town hall event on Twitter:

one more hour to get your questions in, use #educateNJ to ask @ChristieforNJ about the future of higher ed in the state of NJ

One tweet contrasted Christie’s stated approach to higher education with Corzine’s:

Chris answers by reinforcing the importance of input, and Governor Corzine hasn’t met with University presidents as a group. #educatenj

In the past few weeks, Corzine used Twitter to share pictures of Presdient Barack Obama’s appearance at a campaign rally. Christie used the microblogging site to break news of his selection for running mate.
