Simmons demands Senate ethics report on Dodd

Rob Simmons (R-Conn.) called for the Senate Ethics Committee to compile a complete report on his opponent, Sen. Chris Dodd (D-Conn.), due to new testimony claiming Dodd had prior knowledge of sweetheart mortgage deals he received.

The former Republican congressman tweeted:

The people of CT are entitled to a full accounting of the truth & I look forward to a complete report from the Senate Ethics Committee.

Spokesman for both Dodd and Sen. Kent Conrad (D-N.D.) reiterated on Monday that the newly leaked testimony was in fact, “old news.” The two senators denied they knew they would receive discounted mortgage loans.

News outlets reported yesterday that Countrywide official Robert Feinberg told congressional investigators that Dodd and Conrad were informed that they would receive discounted mortgage loans as part of the company’s illicit “VIP” lending program.
